A Little about me
Currently, I am an artist and art teacher living and working in North Royalton, Ohio. I am privileged to be teaching art to students at North Royalton High School. I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio, and I have lived here my entire life. The only occupation I ever dreamt of holding as a child is that of an art educator, and I could not be more thrilled to be living my dreams everyday. And although I have always known this, I have only just begun to fully comprehend how much this truly means to me. No matter how many countless hours I spend researching lesson plan ideas, concocting my crazy outfits for every lesson plan, or creating studio models, it never feels like "work". It is just what I love most, what drives me, and precisely how I intend to devote my life's work. I am fortunate enough to have had remarkably diverse experiences such as working at a YMCA summer camp, the Children's Museum of the Arts in New York City, the Portage County Juvenile Detention Center, and most recently, a long term substitute at Southeast High School in Ravenna, Ohio with full control over the classroom and curriculum development. More than anything, I whole-heartedly believe in the power of an art education, and I believe every student, regardless of age, should have access to such opportunities, especially in the high stakes, standards-driven world we live in.
Something I am recommitting myself to is to create more of my own art. As an educator, it is incredibly important to me that I practice what I preach. A year spent in a temporary position and searching high and low for a job to call my own left me with very little time to spend on my own art. Falling into a creativity rut was far too easier than I thought it would be, but I am now more committed to making time for my own art than ever before.
